Filed Your ITR? Here’s How to Verify Status and Correct Errors in Time
The Income Tax Department’s deadline for filing revised Income Tax Returns (ITRs) ending on December 31, 2025 and many taxpayers want to make sure their return has been filed correctly. However, checking ITR status online is easy and can be done from home.
How to Check ITR Status Online?
Step 1: Visit Income Tax e-Filing website and log in using your PAN number as the user ID.
Step 2: Go to the "e-File" section on the dashboard and click on "Income Tax Returns", then select "View Filed Returns."
Step 3: Next, choose the relevant assessment year to see the status of your latest ITR.
Step 4: If your return shows "Pending for e-Verification", you must complete the verification process quickly.
Step 5: Finally, if you notice any errors in details you can file a revised ITR directly from the same portal by selecting the "Revised Return" option.
Checking your ITR status on time helps you avoid penalties or future notices from the Income Tax Department.
