Godavari Biorefineries Faces Rs 17.02 Crore Demand Over Non-Payment of GST on ENA Supplies to KSBCL:

Godavari Biorefineries receives a Rs 17.02 crore GST show cause notice over alleged non-payment of tax on ENA supplied to KSBCL during 2021-22 to October 2024.
Company Presently Looking For Possible Legal Remedies

Godavari Biorefineries Limited has informed the stock exchanges that it has received a show cause notice (SCN) from the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Central GST, Audit, Belagavi, Karnataka, proposing an aggregate demand amounting to Rs 17.02 crore (including CGST of Rs 8.51 crore and SGST of Rs 8.51 crore).
The company had received the notice on August 21, 2026, for the non-payment of GST on the supply of ENA for the period between 2021-22 and October 2024. The ENA was supplied to the Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Ltd. (KSBCL) for further manufacture of alcoholic liquor fit for human consumption, without payment of GST of Rs 17.02 crore, under Section 74(1) of the CGST/SGST Act, 2017, showing it under “exempted supply” in their sale register/GST returns.
Presently, the company is not aware of the present action's material impact on the financial, operational, or other activities. Hence, the company is evaluating the possible material impact. Also, the company is in the process of examining the SCN, and thereafter legal remedies will be taken accordingly, as may be advised by a legal consultant, such as filing a reply or appeal.
Godavari Biorefineries Limited has made the aforementioned disclosure vide an intimation dated August 21, 2026, issued in pursuance of Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, addressed to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange Limited (BSE).
