The Central Government has increased the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on the export of diesel from Rs 13.5 per litre to Rs 14 per litre, effective from June 16, 2026.

Govt Increases Special Additional Excise Duty on Diesel from Rs 13.5 per Litre to Rs 14 per Litre
The Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has revised the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on the export of petrol and diesel outside India. These revisions have been announced via a Notification No. 30/2026-Central Excise, dated June 15, 2026.
The action has been taken by the Central Government in exercise of the powers granted under Section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), read with Section 147 of the Finance Act, 2002 (20 of 2002), by amending the initial Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Notification No. 06/2026-Central Excise dated March 26, 2026.
In the said notification, in the Table, against serial number 2, in column (4), for the entry, the entry "Rs. 14 per litre" shall be replaced.
As per the initial notification, the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) leviable on the export of petrol was set at Nil, i.e., Zero, while at Rs 24 per litre for diesel. As of now, several amendments have been introduced to initial excise duty rates.
The present notification has further amended the initial notification by increasing the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on the export of diesel from Rs 13.5 per litre to Rs 14 per litre, effective from June 16, 2026.
As of now, a total of 5 revisions have been made to the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) of petrol and diesel by introducing amendments to the initial notification dated March 26, 2026. The following are the details of those revisions:
1. Initial Notification (Effective March 26, 2026)
- Petrol: Nil
- Diesel: Rs 24 per litre
- Petrol: Nil
- Diesel: Rs 24 per litre (amended high-speed diesel rate)
- Petrol: Nil
- Diesel: Rs 23 per litre
- Petrol: Rs 3 per litre
- Diesel: Rs 16.5 per litre
- Petrol: Rs 1.50 per litre
- Diesel: Rs 13.5 per litre
- Petrol: Rs 1.50 per litre
- Diesel: Rs 14 per litre
