Govt Restores RoDTEP Scheme Benefits for AA, SEZ, and EOU Exports
The Government of India has announced the to bring back the benefits of Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for exports made by Advance Authorization (AA) holders, Export-Oriented Units (EOUs), and units operating in Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The benefits of the scheme will continue from June 1, 2025.
The benefits of the scheme were available for exporters until 5th February 2025. However, they were stopped for a while. Now, the government has decided to restore them to enhance India's export competitiveness in the global market.
RoDTEP is a scheme that refunds some duties, taxes that are not refunded under any other existing export schemes. It was introduced on January 1, 2021 and is compliant with World Trade Organisation (WTO) norms. It is enforced by an end-to-end digital system to ensure transparency and quick payments.
For the financial year 2025-26, the government has allocated Rs. 18,233 crore for this scheme. This support will cover 10,780 HS lines for the Domestic Tariff Area and 10,795 HS Lines under Advance Authorization (AA), Export-Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zones (SEZs). This ensures that many different sectors benefit from the scheme.
By 31st March 2025, the government had given out over Rs. 57,976 crore under the RoDTEP scheme, showing how important it is for helping India’s goods exports. Restoring RoDTEP benefits for these special export groups shows that the government is committed to building a fair, competitive, and rules-based system to support India's long-term growth in exports.
