GST Council meeting postponed to First week of March amid Budget session
As per news sources, the 49th GST Council, which is presided over by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and is made up of state counterparts, will be held in the First week of March.
Earlier, the meeting was slated on February 18 in New Delhi. It is believed that since many State Assemblies are having Budget sessions it would be difficult for Ministers in charge or state representatives to attend the GST Council meeting on the 18th.
As per news reports, it is doubtful that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council will discuss the group of ministers’ (GoM) report on taxing online gaming at its upcoming meeting because it calls for extended discussion.
The Long impending issue of establishing GST Appellant Tribunal is also unlikely to be discussed.
