Malti Ramesh Kathale (43), the accused officer who is presently employed in the state GST department office, has been the subject of a formal complaint filed at the Yerawada police station.

The state official was detained by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking a Rs. 3,000 bribe in return for providing a Goods and Services Tax (GST) number.

A formal complaint has been filed at the Yerawada police station against Malti Ramesh Kathale, a 43-year-old accused officer who is presently employed at the state GST department office in Yerawada.

In response to a complaint, ACB detectives set up a trap and apprehended the officer without cause while taking the bribe money.

Following that, Kathale has been charged with offenses related to the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The ACB-Pune range superintendent of police, Amol Tambe, urged the public to report any government employee who appears to be soliciting bribes.
