Haryana PCS Exam 2023: The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) revised the syllabus of the Haryana Provincial Civil Service (PCS). The new syllabus will be applicable for the Haryana PCS 2023 examination. The HPSC modified the exam pattern of the prelims examination. Now the OMR sheets for the prelims exam will have five options instead of four. The question paper will still have four options only. According to the new prelims exam pattern, candidates will not have the option to leave any circle blank on the OMR sheet. If a candidate doesn’t know the answer to a particular question, then he or she must fill in the fifth circle (Hash-#).

The prelims exam for the Haryana PCS, also known as HPSC HCS (Haryana Civil Service), is scheduled on 21st May 2023. The application form for the same started on 16th February 2023. The last date to complete the online application form for the Haryana Civil Service exam was 17th March 2023. The HPSC sought to fill 100 vacancies through the HCS exam 2023. The HPSC conducts the HCS exam for selecting suitable candidates for various posts under HCS (Executive Branch) and other allied services.

The Haryana PCS exam consists of three phases: Prelims, Mains, and the Interview. Both Prelims and Mains exams are conducted offline, i.e., in pen & paper mode. The prelims exam is objective in nature and consists of only multiple-choice questions. The Haryana PCS mains exam is descriptive, where candidates have to write answers to the given questions. The last phase of the Haryana PCS exam is the Personality Test, also known as the interview. The prelims exam’s mark is not considered for merit list preparation. The Haryana PCS exam is conducted for a total of 675 marks. Due to the highly competitive nature of the exam, candidates must know the right resources from where he/she should study. The Mains exam is the most important exam in the Haryana PCS examination process. It accounts for the most number of marks. Its weightage is 600 marks. This phase alone can decide the fate of a particular candidate. So it is crucial to prepare rigorously for this phase. The detailed syllabus for the Haryana PCS mains exam is given below:

The syllabus for optional papers varies with every subject. The detailed syllabus for the respective optional subject can be found on the official website.

The last phase of the Haryana PCS exam is the Personality Test, also known as Viva-Voice or Interview. It is held for 75 marks. Candidates who obtain the minimum cutoff marks in the Mains exam are called to appear for the Haryana HCS interview. The Haryana Public Service Commission interviews the shortlisted candidates. The interview assesses the mental alertness, critical power, and intellectual traits of a candidate. The final selection list is released after the interview phase.
