Haryana Registers Highest SGST Growth Rate Among All States

The Government of Haryana, through its Excise and Taxation Department, has announced that the state secured the first rank among all states in SGST collection growth for the month of May 2026, recording a 22% increase over the previous financial year. The increase exceeds the national average growth of 6% for the same period. Haryana's net SGST collection for May 2026 stood at Rs. 4,456 crore, amounting to an increase of Rs. 807 crore over the collection of Rs. 3,649 crore recorded in May of the previous financial year.
The state has also emerged as the top performer in cumulative SGST revenue growth during the first two months of financial year 2026-27, registering a 40% increase compared to the period of the previous financial year. This is higher than the national average growth of 23% during the same period. According to the department, Haryana had also recorded the highest SGST growth rate during financial year 2025-26, achieving 22% growth against the national average of 6%, reflecting consistent improvement in the state's tax performance.
The department states that the rise in GST collections is due to the state's expanding economy, efficient tax administration, and targeted compliance initiatives. It also highlights the proper use of data analytics-based enforcement, action against fake taxpayers, compliance monitoring, and measures aimed at curbing revenue leakages.
In addition to enforcement measures, the Department stated that it is taking many taxpayer-friendly initiatives to ease compliance. After the announcement made by the Hon'ble Chief Minister in the FY 2026-27 budget, the department has started giving show cause notices and summary orders through registered and speed post and also making them available on the online portal, thereby ensuring transparency for taxpayers.
