How To Manage Stress During Articleship | CA Articleship Mistakes

CA brings a great amount of stress to all of us. This generally happens due to articleship or because of so many classes we attend. We are often in a delimna so as to what should we do- either we can opt for late night studies or we can have our regular sleep. In between the two there is no way out.
In such a stressful situation, we need to calm ourselves down at the workplace itself so that we can cope up with our daily hectic schedule. So here, you will find some ways which may help you in overcoming your stress during your articeship stage.
1. Schedule your day for energy: This technique applies not only during your study hours but also when you are at the workplace. We generally go through the day using the push approach i.e. we think that working full 8 to 9 hours continuously will drive us into a habit of working for long hours. But this often reduces our productivity and we end up making our boss angry. So, its recommended to take short 5 minutes break and rejuvenate yourselves.
2. Act instead of reacting: Stress is a situation when we feel that things are out of our control. During the articleship stage, stress occurs when you are overburdened with work. For example: you have 2 or 3 assignments with a deadline and a client calls you up when you are busy. There may be different types of people you encounter. Instead of reacting to the situation, stay calm and make him realise that his work is equally important to you.
3. Eliminate Interruptions: E-Mails, Phone calls, Whatsapp (nowadays), Instagram etc, are most of the time the main causes of interruptions. Keep your cellphones on silent mode until and unless you find it urgent to keep on general mode. These interruptions may create difficulties and are a hindrance and consequently those conspire to make us more distracted than ever.
4. Deal with one thing at a time: This will help you out in managing things well and removing the stress factor. Though you have 3-4 assignments you just need to focus on one at a time. This will make it easier for you to focus and to do a job of higher quality right away.
5. Delegate: During your articleship phase, there are definitely a lot of work. If you expertise in a particular area, you can delegate that work to your co-articles. In this way, they can also get an opportunity of learning new things and you will find that you are also able to reduce your stress.
6. Let your lunch hour be a slow time of relaxing: Dont just wolf down your lunch in flat 5 minutes. Instead make your lunch hour a slow time of relaxing. This will obviously help you to overcome your stress which you come across during working hours.
7. Dont mess up your workplace: This is an essential factor which should be kept in mind. The place where you are working must be clean and a comfort zone. Keep away the files in the right place when you dont require them and you will find things simple. This simplicity makes it easier to focus on what truly matters in a relaxed and undistracted way.
