ICAI Sends Notice to Gujarat Mitra for publication of derogatory news against Chartered Accountants.
ICAI mentioned that derogatory news against CA's has brought disrepute to the profession of Chartered Accountants and tarnished the image of the profession of Chartered Accountants.Publication of such news item has tarnished and severely dented the image of the profession of Chartered Accountants in the eyes of the public.
The aforesaid news items is far from truth. It is extremely unfair and unjust to state that Chartered Accountants are in conspiracy with tax officials to demand huge amounts from the tax payers.
ICAI asked Gujarat Mitrato publish an unconditional apology for publishing such news item which is not based on facts and tarnished the image of Chartered Accountants.

Dear Sir,
Please refer to the news item published on 19th December, 2018 in the SuratEdition of your newspaper wherein it is stated that all the Chartered Accountants prefer to directly meet the tax officials and in conspiracy with them demand huge amounts from the tax payers. It is further stated that the state anti-corruption bureau has caught Chartered Accountants and officials in this Scam.
The aforesaid publication has brought disrepute to the profession of Chartered Accountants and tarnished the image of the profession of Chartered Accountants.
We are pained and anguished with the contents of the aforesaid derogatory news item which damaged the reputation of this world class Institute set up by an Act of Parliament and is in existence for nearly 70 years setting standards for accounting and auditing profession in the country and recognized globally for its professional excellence.
The aforesaid news item shows the biased mind and hatred of the author towards the Chartered Accountant professionals.
Publication of aforesaid news item has tarnished and severely dented the image of the profession of Chartered Accountants in the eyes of the public.
The aforesaid news items is far from truth. It is extremely unfair and unjust to state that Chartered Accountants are in conspiracy with tax officials to demand huge amounts from the tax payers. The Statement that the state anti -corruption Bureau has caught Chartered Accountants and tax officials in the scam is not based on facts and evidence. This news items is therefore, baseless and incorrect.
Without appreciating the facts and full implications of such baised and vicious reporting, the aforesaid news item is published causing Irreparable loss to theprestige of this great Institution which is carefully built illustrious visionaries of the profession.
You are, therefore, hereby called upon to publish an unconditional apology for publishing such news item which is not based on facts and tarnished the image of Chartered Accountants. The same may be published within seven days from the date of receipt of this communication.
Please tale notice that the Institute will be constrained to take both civil and criminal action against you as per law including but not limited to filing of suit for damages and also recovery of costs thereto.
