ICAI to host largest convention of Global Accountants in Ahmedabad

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held a press conference on Thursday in Ahmedabad to share information about the first Global Professional Accountants Convention (GloPAC), which will be held from November 24th to November 26th, 2023 at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, with the theme “Connecting the Globe, Creating Value.”

The President of the ICAI addressed the media and provided an insight into the scope and relevance of GloPAC.

The opening ceremony of the Global Professional Accountants Convention (GloPAC) will be graced by Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar (Hon’ble Vice-President of India) as the Chief Guest and CA. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Government of India as the Guest of Honor in August presence of Ms. Anuradha Thakur, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, Mr. K Rajaraman, Chairperson, International Financial Services Centres Authority Shri Tapan Ray, MD and CEO, GIFT Co. Ltd.

More than 4000 delegates from over 25 nations will attend the ceremony.

The three-day event will feature 30+ incredible sessions led by a diverse range of speakers, including:

Sharing insights about the Convention CA. “ICAI has been awarded the ISAR Honours 2023 by the UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) working group on International Standards for Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) for its initiative Sustainability Reporting Standards Board (SRSB).” Among 70 efforts from around the world, ICAI’s SRSB won the highest score in this year’s ISAR HONOURS session. This award recognises ICAI’s ongoing efforts in sustainability reporting.”

Furthermore, the unveiling of the New Scheme of Education and Training on the 75th CA Day represents a significant step forward in complying with International Education Standards and the National Education Policy, 2020. The modern curriculum emphasises ethics, technology, and practical training innovations, demonstrating the ICAI’s commitment to defining the future of the Chartered Accountancy course.

While interacting with the Media CA. “GloPAC aims to bring together key stakeholders such as thought leaders, policymakers, standard setters, industry and commerce groups, as well as financial institutions worldwide,” said Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, vice president, ICAI. The convention, positioned as a premier venue, will allow for in-depth discussions and debates on current topics and developing trends in the accounting profession. GloPAC will serve as a ‘Window to the Future,’ providing insights to navigate the unseen dynamics in the global economy and regulatory landscape.”

ICAI will also sign two important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City at the GloPAC.
