Income Tax Department seized Rs.5 crore during searches at Rice Mills Income tax inspectors seized Rs.5 crore during inspections at rice mills in Miryalaguda, Haliya, and Nalgonda on Thursday. Officials believe the money was intended to be utilised for election purposes. The searches were carried out in Vajrateja rice mill in Haliya, Mahashakti rice mill and Vaidehi rice mill in Miryalaguda, Sumanjali rice mill in Nalgonda, Keerthi rice mill and Venkatasai mill in Chettipalayam. According to IT department sources, the home of one Sridhar, who has ties to one of these rice mills, was searched. Despite claims that searches were performed in the homes of Miryalaguda BRS MLA Nallamotu Bhaskar Rao's relatives, he denied it.
