India’s GST Revenue Rises 6.5% in August 2025
The Finance Ministry on Monday shared the monthly and quarterly GST data of India. As per this data, the total Gross GST Revenue increased by 6.5% year on year to Rs 1,86,315 crore in August 2025. Last year, it was Rs 1,74,962 crore in the same month.
Domestic GST revenue grew 9.6% in August 2025, with collections at Rs 1,36,962 crore, from Rs 1,24,986 crore in August 2024. On the other hand, the import revenue in August 2025 stood at Rs 49,354 crore, from Rs 49,976 crore in August 2024, showing a decline of 1.2%.
The Total Refund saw a 19.9% decline in August 2025 compared to last year. The total refunds fell to Rs 19,359 crore from Rs 24,170 crore in August 2024. The total Net GST Revenue in August 2025 was recorded at Rs 1,66,956 crore, which is a 10.7% increase from Rs 1,50,791 crore in August 2024.
Comparing the GST revenue of August 2024 with August 2025, the states that showed impressive growth are Sikkim (39%), Nagaland (33%), Meghalaya (35%), and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (35%). Other states include Bihar (15%), Karnataka (15%), Andhra Pradesh (21%), Punjab (14%), Rajasthan (14%), Telangana (12%), Haryana (12%), Uttar Pradesh (10%) Maharashtra (10%), and Assam (11%).
The states with moderate GST growth are Madhya Pradesh (9%), Tamil Nadu (9%), Kerala (8%), Chhattisgarh (8%), West Bengal (8%), and Gujarat (6%). The capital, Delhi, recorded a GST growth of 2%. The other states include Odisha (3%), Goa (3%), Uttarakhand (7%), Mizoram (8%), and Ladakh (6%)
Key September 2025 GST Due Date
The states that have recorded a decline in GST revenue are Chandigarh (-12%), Manipur (-24%), Jharkhand (-1%), Puducherry (-4%), and Lakshadweep (-66%). The overall domestic GST revenue grew by 10%.
