The CBDT Chairman acknowledged taxpayers’ concerns regarding the delay in generating TDS (Tax Deduction at Source) and Form 16 certificates, as well as the “slowness” of the IT portal, but stated that these difficulties have now been fixed.

“Even hourly filings are at an all-time high. As a result, I believe we can confidently state that we will be able to address it within the next six days. The majority of the issues have been handled and resolved, and there was no apparent reporting of any of these issues such as downtime yesterday, and there is still no issue today,” he stated late Thursday afternoon.

The Income Tax Department has seen a significant increase in the number of transactions recorded this year, according to CBDT Chief, and some of the government officials in charge of giving such deduction certificates were simultaneously on election duty, delaying some issuances.

“Then there was a report of slowness on the website, and users were having difficulty using it. So, some corrective measures have been made in terms of increasing the hardware and implementing such solutions,” the CBDT chief assured.
