Valmo Helps 10,000 Partners File ITRs

Valmo, the logistics arm of Meesho, has launched a novel initiative to ease the income tax return (ITR) filing process for its delivery partners. The program aims at helping partners understand their tax obligations, claim refunds on excess TDS deducted from their earnings and create a formal record of their income.
Since the programme began in July, around 10,000 Valmo delivery partners have started filing their ITRs, with tax refunds worth around Rs 2 crore claimed so far. Nearly 70% of the partners who started the process are first-time tax filers.
The initiative is especially useful for delivery partners such as bike riders, who may have tax deducted from their payments during the year. By filing an ITR, they can claim a refund if the tax already deducted is more than their actual tax liability. Filing an ITR also provides an official record of income, which can be useful when applying for financial services such as loans.
Dhiresh Bansal, Chief Financial Officer of Meesho, said the company wants to make ITR filing easier for its partners as Valmo’s network continues to grow. He said the initiative is intended to help partners claim eligible tax refunds and build a formal financial record that can support their future financial needs.
Valmo shared information about the programme through WhatsApp and its internal Training Management System. The communication was provided in seven languages - English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Bengali. Partners could use these messages to directly access the ClearTax platform and begin the ITR filing process, with support available during the filing.
Valmo said the ITR initiative is part of its larger effort to support delivery partners and small businesses connected to its logistics network. Along with providing earning opportunities, the company aims to help partners become part of the formal financial system and improve their long-term financial participation.
