Mera Bill Mera Adhikar Scheme: GOI launched this App to reward taxpayers with cash prizes on uploading GST bill
The ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ invoice incentive plan was created by the Indian government to encourage consumers to seek bills for their purchases and to promote the use of real invoices in business-to-consumer interactions. Customers who file GST invoices on the authorised mobile app will be eligible for cash rewards ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs.1 crore.
The scheme is planned to begin on September 1. It will begin as a trial project in the states of Haryana, Assam, Gujarat, and the UTs of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, and Puducherry. The scheme’s principal goal is to encourage consumers to demand correct invoices from merchants for their transactions. This aids in the reduction of tax evasion and the promotion of transaction transparency.
The programme will apply to all invoices issued by GST-registered providers to consumers. Monthly and quarterly draws will be conducted, and customers can win cash prizes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 crore, based on their uploaded invoices.
The minimum purchase amount for an invoice to be eligible for the lucky draw is Rs.200. Beginning September 1, individuals can upload a limit of 25 invoices per month.
The ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ mobile app will be available on both IOS and Android platforms. Users can upload invoices using this app.
Invoices submitted to the app should include information like the seller’s GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number), invoice number, amount paid, and tax amount.
The initiative attempts to incentivise residents and consumers to actively request correct invoices for their transactions, particularly in business-to-consumer sales, by granting financial awards for submitting invoices. The scheme increases transaction transparency and prevents tax fraud by requiring enterprises to submit correct invoices for their sales.
While the initiative will initially be limited to six states and Union Territories, there are plans to expand its coverage to additional regions in the future.
This initiative is consistent with the Indian government’s attempts to streamline taxation processes and improve tax collection by encouraging companies and consumers to conduct lawful and transparent transactions.
