New NPS rule from 1st April: Check What is Changed in New NPS Rule New NPS rule from 1st April: The government has amended the National Pension Scheme (NPS) rules to implement a new security feature which is Two-way Aadhaar Authentication for users login in the system as per the PFRDA (Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority) Circular. The new system will reduce the risk of unauthorized access to the CRA System. This additional layer will safeguard the NPS transactions and protect the interests of both subscribers and stakeholders.

Additional Security Feature in NPS Scheme:

The CRA for NPS transactions is now accessed by Nodal Offices under the Central and State Governments, including their underlying Autonomous organizations, through a password-based login. It has been determined to add more security features by using Aadhaar-based authentication for CRA system login in order to strengthen security measures and safeguard the interests of Subscribers and Stakeholders. The present User ID and password-based login procedure will be merged with the Aadhaar-based login authentication, providing 2-Factor Authentication for CRA system access.

Mapping of Aadhaar:

The CRA system (CRA & NPSCAN) can be accessed by User IDs of Government Sector Nodal offices (Central/State/CAB/SAB) via 2-Factor Authentication via Aadhaar OTP (one-time password). To begin Aadhaar Mapping, underlying users must first link their Aadhaar with their unique CRA User ID at the Oversight office (PrAO/DTA). Similar to this, in order for underlying DDOs to start the Aadhaar connection process, PAO/DTO must link their Aadhaar with their corresponding CRA User ID.

Performance of NPS Activities:

In order to conduct any NPS-related activity, all offices under the Government Sector and Autonomous Bodies must put in place the infrastructure required for the extra feature of Aadhaar-based login and authentication in the CRA system.

What is the Standard Operating Process?

The following topics are covered in the attached document, which describes how Nodal offices linked to Protean CRA can integrate their Aadhaar and go forward with functional activities using the CRA system: 1. Aadhaar number registration once only in relation to Nodal Office User ID 2. Authentication, allowing users to check the Nodal Office User ID 3. Status for Aadhaar Mapping 4. Procedure for routine access to the CRA system (based on Aadhaar) Autonomous Bodies and Government and Corporate Nodal Offices are requested to put in place the required framework for the new Aadhaar-based login and authentication and guarantee the smooth operation of all NPS-related activities.
