NHAI Recruitment 2023: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced job openings for Chief General Manager (Technical) in the Group A category. The post is open to six candidates, but the number of posts may vary based on NHAI’s requirements. As per NHAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selected candidate will receive a salary of PB-4 (Rs.37400-67000) with Grade Pay Rs.10000 (pre-revised), equivalent to Pay Level-14 (Rs.144200-218200) of Pay Matrix according to the 7th CPC. The recruitment method is through a Search Cum Selection Committee.
As per NHAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligibility criteria for this post include a degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute and a minimum of 17 years of service in Group ‘A’ with a pay scale of Pay Band-3 (Rs.15600-39100) with Grade Pay Rs.5400/- (pre-revised) in CDA pattern, equivalent to Pay Level-10 of Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC or equivalent level post or higher on a regular basis, of which 10 years must be in the implementation of Infrastructure Sectors related to Highways, Roads, and Bridges.
Internal candidates holding the position of GM (Technical) or the equivalent of NHAI on a regular basis for three years and possessing the required educational qualifications and essential experience stipulated in Column-7 can apply. Applicants from the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Recognized Research Institutions, Public Sector Undertakings, Semi-Government or Statutory or Autonomous Organizations, and other Government Bodies can also apply through deputation. The period of deputation shall ordinarily be three years, which may be extended for another year subject to the approval of the Chairman, NHAI. The last date of Application is 02.06.2023.

Essential Educational Qualification: The candidate must have a degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university or institute.
Experience: The candidate must have 17 years of service as Group ‘A’ in the pay scale of Pay Band-3 (Rs.15600-39100) with Grade Pay Rs.5400/- (pre-revised) in CDA pattern, equivalent to Pay Level-10 of Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC or equivalent level post or higher on a regular basis.
Out of the 17 years of service, the candidate must have a cumulative experience of 10 years in the implementation of infrastructure sectors related to Highways, Roads, and Bridges.
Therefore, the candidate must have a degree in Civil Engineering and at least 17 years of service in a specific pay scale with 10 years of experience in infrastructure sectors related to Highways, Roads, and Bridges.
As per NHAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection process for the position of GM (Technical) at NHAI involves two methods:
Selection through Search-cum-Selection-Committee from internal candidates holding the post of a GM (Technical) or equivalent of NHAI on a regular basis for a period of three years and possessing the essential educational qualifications and essential experience stipulated in Column-7.
Selection by the deputation from officers under the Central Government or State Governments or Union Territories Universities or Recognized Research Institutions or Public Sector Undertakings or Semi Government or Statutory or Autonomous Organizations and other Government Bodies. The officers should hold an analogous post on a regular basis in the pay scale of PB-4 (37400-67000) with Grade Pay of Rs.10000/- (pre-revised) in CDA pattern, equivalent to Pay Level-14 (144200-218200) of Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC or equivalent pay scale in IDA pattern in the parent cadre/ department; or with three years of regular service in the posts in the pay scale of PB-4 (Rs.37400-67000) with Grade Pay Rs.8700/- (pre-revised) in CDA pattern, equivalent to Pay Level-13 (123100-215900) of Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC) or equivalent pay scale in IDA pattern in the parent cadre/ department. Additionally, the officers should possess the essential educational qualification and essential experience stipulated in Column-7.
The period of deputation for the selected candidates shall ordinarily be three years, which may be extended for another year with the approval of the Chairman, NHAI. Further extension beyond the fourth year and up to a maximum of ten years shall be with the approval of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, subject to satisfactory performance.
