Bharti Airtel Ltd has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications, Assam LSA, on June 25, 2025, which has alleged the company of violating norms of subscriber verification.

The notice mentions a penalty of Rs. 6,48,000 imposed on the company by the Department of Telecommunications. Under the licence agreement, Airtel is obligated to:

  • Thoroughly verify every customer before enrolling them as a subscriber.
