Railway Recruitment 2023: Railway Recruitment Cell, North Western Railway, Jaipur has released the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) notification for the year 2023. Online applications are invited from serving regular railway employees of North Western Railway, excluding RPF/RPSF employees, to fill up vacancies against the GDCE quota. Interested candidates must read the instructions mentioned in the notification before filling out the online application. As per Indian Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the online application process will commence on 7th April 2023, 10.00 Hrs, and the last date to submit the application is 6th May 2023, 23.59 Hrs. The vacancies available are for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot, and the minimum educational qualification required is a matriculation pass plus ITI/Act Apprenticeship passed in trade (i) Fitter, (ii) Electrician, (iii) Instrument Mechanic, (iv) Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, (v) Mechanic (Radio & TV), (vi) Electronics Mechanic, (vii) Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), (viii) Wireman, (ix) Tractor Mechanic, (x) Armature & Coil Winder, (xi) Mechanic (Diesel), or (ii) Heat Engine.
As per Indian Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the upper age limit for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot is 42 years for general candidates, 45 years for OBC candidates, and 47 years for SC/ST candidates. Eligible employees should submit their applications through online mode only, and the application sent offline mode/manually/hard copy in RRC, JP office will not be entertained. There is no application fee for this recruitment. Candidates who are appearing in and/or awaiting results of the final examination of minimum qualification as of the closing date (06.05.2023) are not eligible. The academic qualification must be from a recognized educational institution/board; otherwise, the candidature will be rejected at any stage of selection. Only serving regular railway employees of North Western Railway are eligible to apply, working in a grade pay/pay level lower than the grade pay/pay level for which GDCE is being held or in the same grade pay/pay level scale for which GDCE is being held are permitted to appear in selection for non-safety to safety category posts as well as safety to safety category posts. Candidates are not allowed to apply for the same post on which they are presently working.

As per the Indian Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligibility criteria for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot with G.Pay 1900/- (Level-2) in the Indian Railways include both educational and age requirements. The minimum educational qualification required for this post is Matriculation pass with ITI/Act Apprenticeship in the following trades: Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), and Heat Engine. Alternatively, candidates can possess a Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering in lieu of ITI. Candidates with combinations of various streams of trades of Engineering prescribed as above are also eligible for employment, as per the Board’s instructions contained in RBE no 162/2001 dated 20/08/2001, subject to the provisions contained in Board’s letter No. E(NG)II/2005/RR-1/8 dated 28/08/2014 and 30/09/2015.
In terms of age limit, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 42 years for General candidates, 18 and 45 years for OBC candidates, and 18 and 47 years for SC/ST candidates, as per Railway Board letter No. E (NG)I-2000/PM2/12 dt. 21.08.2001 (RBE No. 165/2001). The age will be reckoned as on 01.07.2023. Therefore, candidates must ensure that they meet both the educational and age requirements before applying for this post.
As per the Indian Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the recruitment process for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot in Indian Railways will consist of several stages. The first stage will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) or a written examination, which will be conducted in single or two stages. The standard of the examination will be like that of direct recruitment conducted by RRB. The questions in the examination will be multiple-choice type, and there will be negative markings for wrong answers. The shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of their original documents.
After the document verification process, the candidates will have to undergo an aptitude test. The employees under GDCE will also have to pass the aptitude test. The selected employees under GDCE will have to pass the prescribed training course 17 weeks before appointment to the post for which they are selected. The final selection of the candidates will be made strictly on the basis of merit.
The date, time, and venue of the CBT/written examinations and aptitude tests will be fixed by RRC/Jaipur and will be intimated to the eligible candidates in due course. The candidates should note that any request for postponement of the CBT/written examination/aptitude test and change of center/venue will not be entertained under any circumstance. The stipend is admissible during the training period will be Rs. 19,900/- (Level-2) along with usual allowances as admissible (P.M.), as per RBE No. 08/2017.
