Railway Recruitment 2023: The East Coast Railway has released a notification for the recruitment of Sportspersons against the sports quota (Open Advt.) for the year 2022-23. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the vacancies in Level-2/Level-3 of VII CPC for various disciplines including volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, boxing, weightlifting, hockey, athletics, table tennis, and archery. As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the total number of vacancies is 16, and candidates who fulfill the norms of the minimum sport for recruitment can apply for these posts. The sports achievements of the applicant should have been fulfilled on or after 01.04.2020 and up to 31.03.2023, and certificates in support of the same must be enclosed along with the application form.
As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the norms of the minimum sport for recruitment of sportspersons in different Grade Pay & Levels for both team and individual events have been mentioned in the notification. The minimum requirements include representing the country in any of the Category-B Championships/Events or securing at least 3rd position in any of the Category-C Championships/Events, Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships, National Games, All India Inter University Championship, or 1st Position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category). As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the closing date for applications is 23.05.2023, and the tentative date for sports trials is the 3rd or 4th week of June’2023. Candidates who meet the minimum sports norms and other eligibility criteria can apply for the vacancies before the closing date.

As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the age limit for candidates applying for the sports recruitment in question is a minimum of 18 years and maximum of 25 years as of July 1st, 2023. Candidates must submit their Matriculation or equivalent certificate from a recognized board as proof of their date of birth.
It is important to note that no age relaxation is allowed, even for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC communities.
Furthermore, there is no reservation for SC/ST/OBC communities in this recruitment process. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the particular sports discipline and their overall merit, regardless of their community.
As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the educational qualification for the post of Pay Level-2 is either 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination, or a pass in Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized Board with an ITI certificate.
Candidates who have a pass in Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized Board may also apply to be posted as Tech-III/Level-2 subject to a 3-year training period. It is important to note that candidates who are appearing at and/or awaiting the results of the final examination are not eligible.
As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection procedure for the recruitment of sportspersons in the Indian Railways is based on performance in sports trials, sports achievements, and educational qualifications. The maximum marks that can be awarded for each attribute are 40 for games skill, physical fitness, and coach’s observation during the trial, 50 for recognized sports achievements as per norms, and 10 for educational qualifications.
The minimum qualifying marks out of 100 are 65 for candidates in Pay Level-2. Candidates who score 25 marks or more against game skill, physical fitness, and the coach’s observation during the trial are considered FIT candidates and will be considered for the next stage of recruitment.
The selection process is purely based on merit, and canvassing in any form will attract disqualification. In case more than one sportsperson scores the same mark, preference will be given to the younger candidate to decide the merit. The Railway Administration has the right to fix any date, change the place, or postpone the trials at its own convenience, which can also be canceled due to unforeseen exigencies against which no claim will be accepted.
As per Railway Recruitment 2023 official notification, to apply for the East Coast Railway Sports Quota Recruitment, candidates must follow the application process mentioned below. Firstly, candidates need to obtain a Demand Draft/Pay Order from any nationalized bank or a crossed Indian Postal Order from any post office drawn in favor of “Principal Financial Adviser, East Coast Railway” and payable at Bhubaneswar. The application fee for candidates falling under category (i) is Rs. 500/-, while for category (ii) candidates, it is Rs. 250/-.
After obtaining the Demand Draft/Pay Order, candidates need to visit the official website of East Coast Railway and click on the link for “Sports Quota Recruitment 2023”. Then, they need to fill out the application form with all the required details and upload scanned copies of their photograph and signature. Finally, candidates should send the application form along with the Demand Draft/Pay Order and necessary documents to the address mentioned in the official notification. The closing date for applications is 23.05.2023, and the tentative date for sports trials is the 3rd or 4th week of June’2023.
It is important to note that candidates should submit their applications before the last date mentioned in the notification. Also, candidates belonging to category (i) will be refunded Rs. 400/-, while those belonging to category (ii) will be refunded Rs. 250/- if they actually appear for the selection process.
