Rakul Preet Singh Breaks Silence on IT Searches

Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh has denied reports linking her to the recent Income Tax Department searches. The actress took to social media on Monday to clarify that the searches were not related to her and said that some reports were published without checking the facts.
Rakul said she was hurt by the way the news was reported and urged the media to verify information before publishing it. She said, “The search was not pertaining to me.”
The actress also spoke about her background, saying she comes from an Armed Forces family and has built her career through hard work. She said she has been paying her taxes regularly since the age of 20 and is a law-abiding citizen.
Rakul further denied any involvement in illegal foreign money transfers. She also said that she does not own any benami property in India or abroad and has never received expensive properties as gifts from anyone.
The actress urged media outlets that published what she called false and speculative reports to correct the information. She said that while she understands the commercial pressures faced by media organisations, such pressures should not come at the cost of facts or damage someone’s reputation and livelihood.
The Income Tax Department had reportedly conducted searches at several locations in Mumbai linked to film producer Vashu Bhagnani, Panorama Studios and others. Reports had also linked Rakul Preet Singh’s name to the searches.
The Mumbai Income Tax Department reportedly searched 12 locations as part of an investigation into suspected financial irregularities. Officials are believed to be looking into allegations that money was sent overseas in the name of financing film projects.
