Search conducted on cost accountant of mp gala jayadeva CBDT clarifies:
Continuing its spree of raids on suspected tax violators, the Income Tax Department conducted searches on the residence of a person working with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)s Jayadev Galla, late Tuesday evening, and found Rs 45.4 lakh of unaccounted cash. The IT officials searched the residence of Gurappa Narasimha Naidu, Cost Accountant of Jayadev, who was one of the richest MPs in the outgoing Lok Sabha.
According to the IT officials an information has been received on a toll-free number that cash was kept at the residence of Shri Gurappa Naidu which was to be used in general election."It was only at the time of recording his statement late in the night that he revealed that he was giving services to Shri Galla Jayadev, MP, TDP also in his capacity as a cost accountant. During the course of search, cash of Rs. 45.4 lakh was seized being unexplained," it said in a statement.
The department clarified that no premises of Jayadev was searched. Gurappa Naidu is a retired person who is practicing freelance cost accountancy. Gurappa Naidu is the chief accountant of Amara Raja Batteries, owned by Galla Jayadev.
