Shockwave in CA Fraternity: Firm Bids Just Rs 1 in Tender, Sparks Outrage Over Professional Standards!
A Chartered Accountant (CA) on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) recently shared a post saying “A Wake-Up Call for Professional Standards” regarding a CA firm’s tender bid for Rs. 1.
This recent case has alerted many in the profession, where a chartered accountancy firm placed a tender bid for just Rs. 1. While such a bid may be technically valid, it sets a distressing standard and raises serious questions about the respect and value given to professional services.
The CA expressed frustration that the ICAI’s Tendering Monitoring Committee appears unable to uphold a standard that prevents members from submitting such low price bids. He added that there is a need for a clear and well-defined framework that aligns fees with the complexity and value of the work, safeguarding the profession’s credibility as well as the quality of services provided to the public.
