A Chartered Accountant (CA) on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) recently shared a post saying "A Wake-Up Call for Professional Standards" regarding a CA firm's tender bid for Rs. 1.
This recent case has alerted many in the profession, where a chartered accountancy firm placed a tender bid for just Rs. 1. While such a bid may be technically valid, it sets a distressing standard and raises serious questions about the respect and value given to professional services.
The CA expressed frustration that the ICAI's Tendering Monitoring Committee appears unable to uphold a standard that prevents members from submitting such low price bids. He added that there is a need for a clear and well-defined framework that aligns fees with the complexity and value of the work, safeguarding the profession’s credibility as well as the quality of services provided to the public.
He further added, "This is a critical issue that threatens the foundation of our profession. We must hold our governing bodies accountable and demand a commitment to fair and ethical practices.
