Strengthening NFRA: Govt examining panel proposals
The Centre said on Saturday that it is dedicated to improving the work of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA), an independent regulatory organisation for the auditing profession established under the Corporate Affairs Ministry.
Speaking at an event hosted by the NFRA as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebrations, Ministry of Corporate Affairs Secretary Rajesh Verma said, "We have to see what else needs to be done to strengthen NFRA so that it can carry out its mandates successfully" in addition to strengthening the mandates of defending the general public interests.
"The government is constantly focusing on further strengthening NFRA, and as part of that process, we are also looking into the recommendations of the Company Law Committee regarding NFRA's financial and operational autonomy," Verma added. He also chronicled the evolution of NFRA, which was founded in October 2018, throughout his lecture. With The Aid of PTI
