UPSC Recruitment 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification for the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2023 on its official website. The examination is being conducted for the recruitment of Medical Officers in various services and posts, and a total of 1261 Vacancies are to be filled through this examination. As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the last date for submission of applications is 9th May 2023.

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the recruitment will be done for two categories – Category I which includes Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Service, and Category II which includes Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Railways, General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council, and General Duty Medical Officer Gr-II in Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The notification also highlights the number of vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) in each of these services/posts.

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, candidates are required to apply online through the UPSC website by first registering themselves on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform available on the Commission’s website. Once registered, candidates can fill up the online application for the examination. It is important to note that OTR registration needs to be done only once in a lifetime. The selection process for the examination will consist of a written test and a personality test/interview.

Post Name and Vacancies for UPSC Recruitment 2023:

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2023 has announced vacancies for various medical officer posts in Category-I and Category-II.

Under Category-I, the post of Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Service has 584 vacancies.

In Category II, the post of Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Railways has 300 vacancies, and the post of General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council has only one vacancy. The post of General Duty Medical Officer Gr-II in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has 376 vacancies.

Age Limit for UPSC Recruitment 2023:

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the age limit for candidates applying for the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2023 is specified as follows: the candidate must not have attained the age of 32 years as on 1st August 2023, which means the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1991. However, for Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Services, the upper age limit must not exceed 35 (thirty-five years) as of 1st August 2023.

Selection Process for UPSC Recruitment 2023:

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2023 will consist of a written examination and a personality test. The written examination will carry a total of 500 marks and will be divided into two papers. Each paper will carry a maximum of 250 marks and will be two hours in duration. The questions in the written examination will be of the objective type and will cover topics such as General Ability, General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery. The syllabus for the written examination has been given in the official notification of the examination.

The candidates who qualify on the basis of their performance in the written examination will be called for the Personality Test, which will carry 100 marks. The Personality Test will be conducted to assess the candidate’s intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, the balance of judgment, and alertness of mind, among other qualities. The test will also assess the candidate’s social traits and interest in current affairs. The final selection of candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in the written examination and the personality test.

Educational Qualification for UPSC Recruitment 2023:

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, the educational qualification required for admission to the Combined Medical Services Examination is that the candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination. Candidates who have appeared or are yet to appear for the final M.B.B.S. Examination may also apply, but their admission will be provisional and subject to cancellation if they fail to provide proof of passing the required examination. The proof of passing should have been issued latest by the closing date of the Detailed Application Form for the examination.

Candidates who have yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship are also eligible for admission to the examination, but they will be appointed only after they have completed the internship.

In terms of physical and medical standards, candidates must be physically and medically fit according to the standards set for the Combined Medical Services Examination.

As per UPSC Recruitment 2023 official notification, to apply for the Combined Medical Services Examination, candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

Go to the official website of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Click on the ‘Online Application link to access the application form for the examination.

If you have not registered on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, then register first. You can register by clicking on the ‘Registration’ link and filling up the required details.

After successful registration, log in using your registration ID and password.

Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button to access the online application form for the examination.

Fill in all the required details carefully, including personal information, educational qualifications, and contact details.

Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature as per the specifications provided in the instructions.

Pay the application fee online mode using a debit card, credit card, or net banking facility.
Submit the application form and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the instructions and eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. The last date for submission of applications is 9th May 2023.
