UPSC Recruitment 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Government of India has sought Online Recruitment Applications from Individuals with Eligibility for the Assistant Geophysicist, Group ‘B’ Post in the Geological Survey of India (GSI) of the Ministry of Mines (MoM) vide the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification 14/2023. The UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification issued for Group ‘B’ Assistant Geophysicist Post occurred with 02 Vacancies shall be filled up in Group ‘B’ Gazetted, General Central Service, Group ‘B’ Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) Post Classification in the Pay Matrix Level-08 (Rs. 47600-151100). Both Vacancies have been earmarked for Candidates in the Un-Reserved Category. Based on the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, the Notified Group ‘B’ Post Assistant Geophysicist post-Selection will be positioned in the Geological Survey of India Headquarters (Kolkata) with the All India Service Liability.
According to the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification issued, the Last Date 2023 Official Notification is 10.08.2023 for the Applicants to complete the ORA (Online Recruitment Application) Process. According to the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, the Individuals selected for Assistant Geophysicist Post shall be entitled to the Monthly Salary in the Pay Matrix Level 08 post-Appointment, to be read hereunder:
Pay Matrix: Level-08 (Rs. 47600-151100) as per the Central Civil Services (Revised Pay) 2016. Total Emoluments excluding T.A., and HRA at the time of Initial Appointment will be Approximately Rs. 47,600.00 Plus DA As Applicable Per Month.
According to the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, the following Category-wise and Reserved Community-specific Age Limits (as on the Closing Date 10.08.2023) are to be read hereunder:
1) The Un-Reserved Category: The Candidate should not exceed 30 Years.
2) The Upper Age Limitation for Regularly Appointed Central Government/Union Territory Government Servants remains Relaxable up to 05 Years as per the instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time.
3) For Age Concessions applicable to some other Categories of Applicants, the Applicants should refer to the relevant Paragraphs of the “Instructions and Additional Information to Candidates for Recruitment by Selection” of the UPSC-issued Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Recruitment 2023 Official Advertisement.
The Eligibility, in accordance with the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification, comprising the Educational Qualification(s) and Experience Mandatory for the Applicants may be read as follows:
Essential Qualification(s): The Willing Eligible Candidates should have the Eligibility comprising the Educational and Desirable Qualifications narrated hereunder:
Educational:
i) Post Graduate/Master’s Degree in Physics/Geophysics/Geology/Mathematics from any Duly Recognized University/Institute; Or
Graduate (B.Engg) or AMIE in Electronics or Communication from any Duly Recognized University or Institute.
Note 1: The Candidates who were enrolled for Associate Member of Institution of Engineers (AMIE) up to 31.05.2013 are only Eligible for consideration to the Post of Assistant Geophysicist for Direct Recruitment and the Candidates who have enrolled on or after 01.06.2013 for Associate Member of Institution of Engineers (AMIE) are not Eligible for consideration to the Post Assistant Geophysicist (Direct Recruitment)
Note: The Educational Qualifications and the Qualifications with regard to Experience in respect of the Candidates, otherwise well-qualified, are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission.
Based on the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification issued, the Union Public Service Commission shall carry through the Recruitment Test Selection with Other Criteria for the Notified Assistant Geophysicist Post also explained hereunder:
Recruitment Methodology:
In the event the Applications received relatively in large number from the Applicants, the Union Public Service Commission may adopt the Shortlisting Criteria to restrict the number to only Eligible Candidates to be called in for the Interview to a Reasonable Number by Any or More of the Methodologies as mentioned hereunder:
a) “Based on the Desirable Qualification (DQ) or any one or all of the Desirable Qualifications (DQs), in case more than one Desirable Qualification is prescribed”.
b) Based on the Higher Educational Qualifications than the Minimum prescribed in the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification.
c) On the basis of the Higher Experience in the relevant field than the Minimum prescribed in the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Advertisement.
d) By reckoning the Prior Professional Work-Experience before or Post-acquired Essential Qualifications of the Candidate Applicants.
e) By invoking the Prior Work Experience even in cases where there is No Experience mentioned Either as Essential Qualification (EQ) Or as Desirable Qualification (DQ).
f) By holding a Recruitment Test (RT).
Note-II: Minimum Qualifying/Pass Marks:
As has been explained in the UPSC Recruitment 2023 Official Notification for Selection on Assistant Geophysicist Post, Viva-voce/Personality Test carries Total 100 Marks with the Minimum Qualifying/Pass Marks for Selection to be read hereunder:
I) The Category-wise Minimum Level of Suitability in the Interviews (100 Marks), irrespective of whether the Selection is conducted only through an Interview or by holding a Recruitment Test (RT) to be followed by the Interview, shall remain as hereunder:
a) Un-Reserved (UR) Category: Minimum Qualifying 50 Marks to be secured out of Aggregate 100 Marks
b) Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 50 Marks
c) Other Backward Community: 45 Marks
d) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Persons with Benchmark Disability/ies (PwBDs): 40 Marks.
II) In cases where Selection is carried through by Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the Personal Interview, the Candidate will have to attain the Minimum Level of Suitability in their respective Categories in the course of the Interview Stage.
Following is the Category-wise Application Fee and Payment Gateway for remittance by the Applicants:
I) The General Category/EWS/OBC Candidates shall have to pay the Application Fee Rs. 25.00 (Rupees Twenty-five) only either by remitting the Money in any Branch of the State Bank of India in Cash or by using the Net-Banking Facility of the State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card Payment Gateway.
II) Reserved Community (SC/ST/PwBDs) and Woman Candidates under any Community remain Exempted from payment of the Application Fee.
Note: The Online Recruitment Application shall be considered Duly Completed, which involves Online Fee Remittance as well as Uploading the Scanned Copy of the Educational, Experience and Identity Proof Testimonials, etc., in PDF File.
