Delhi records highest Ever GST collection for April at Rs. 2898 Crore
In April 2022, the national capital of Delhi recorded a record GST collection of Rs.2,898 crore. It is Delhi’s highest-ever April SGST collection. The record GST collection is also an encouraging sign that the national capital’s economy is quickly rebounding from the destruction inflicted by the three waves of the Covid pandemic.
GST collection in April 2021-22 was Rs.2,325 crore, up from Rs.320 crore in 2020-21.
In 2018, Delhi collected Rs.2,075 crore in SGST, however that figure fell to Rs.2,059 crore in 2019.
In the financial year 2021-22, Delhi collected a total of Rs.28,500 crore in income from state GST and VAT.
This comes at a time when India recorded a record GST collection of Rs.1.68 lakh crore in April. According to analysts, the increase in GST collection is due to improved consumer demand, compliance mechanisms, and overall inflation.
