Tax Department released Excel Utility for Filing ITR-3 for AY 2024-25

The Income Tax Department has released an updated Excel utility for submitting ITR-3 for the Assessment Year 2024-25 on October 18, 2024.

This utility is specifically developed for individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who earn income through their businesses or professions. It is essential for taxpayers in this category to accurately record their income and claim any available deductions, making the utility a valuable compliance tool.

The ITR-3 utility’s initial release occurred on May 9, 2024. Following this, on July 5, 2024, an improved JSON format was introduced to improve the filing process and assure seamless integration with the e-filing system.

The Excel Utility’s latest version, Version 1.5, has a file size of 10 MB. This version adds a number of changes designed to make the tax return filing process easier, as well as better functionality and error checks for users.

In addition to ITR-3, the Income Tax Department has updated the utilities for all other ITR forms. On October 1, 2024, utilities for ITRs 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 were released, guaranteeing that all taxpayers have access to the most up-to-date tools for filing returns.
