Central Govt appoints IAS Arunish Chawla as New Revenue Secretary in FinMin
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Arunish Chawla as the new Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, starting immediately.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, formalised this decision with an official order issued on December 25.
Arunish Chawla, a 1992 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Bihar cadre, will succeed Ajay Seth, who has been serving as interim Revenue Secretary since Sanjay Malhotra was appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
Chawla has been the Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals within the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers since November 1, 2023. Prior to this, he was an Officer on Special Duty in the same department, demonstrating his ability to manage complicated administrative obligations. Chawla will also serve as Secretary for the Ministry of Culture.
Throughout his remarkable career, Chawla has held a number of critical positions, demonstrating his expertise in governance and strategic planning. During his term as Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development in Bihar, he also served as Secretary of the Bihar State Planning Board and Project Director of the Bihar Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Society.
