ICAI Releases Revised Publication of Handbook on Invoicing under GST

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released the third revised edition of its publication called “Handbook on Invoicing under GST“. The handbook has all the provisions about the invoicing in one place and is updated as per the amendments up to May 31, 2025. An invoice is a very important part of a business, as it allows you to claim the Input Tax Credit (ITC) and helps in preventing tax evasion. The GST System cannot be run without an invoice. The handbook is very beneficial for tax professionals.

This handbook is prepared by the GST and Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI and explains all types of invoices, like tax invoices, bills of supply, debit or credit notes, and e-invoices. The handbook is divided into two parts: Part I and Part II.

Part I covers various types of invoices, such as Tax Invoice, bills of Supply, Debit or Credit Notes, Receipt Voucher, Refund Voucher, Delivery Challan, and more. Part II focuses on E-Invoicing, explaining its concept, process, QR code, framework, and applicability.
