CBIC Issues Clarification on Rumours Circulated on Social Media About GST Reforms
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has recently clarified a rumour being spread over the social media platform, which claims that the GST reform transition benefits are applicable from September 22, 2025.
The CBIC rejected the message, which claimed to be from the CBIC chairman. The board stated that the fake news, which says some transition benefits under GST Reforms apply from September 22, 2025, on issues including cess credit, ITC of exempted supplies, new price adjustment provisions, etc, is incorrect and misleading. The CBIC urged the public and the stakeholders to only trust the notifications, circulars or FAQs that are officially issued by the Government of India.
Since the GST council earlier introduced a two-slab GST system, with 5% and 18% GST slabs, many individuals over social media platforms like X (Previously known as Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, etc., are spreading rumours.
