Shilpa Shetty Denies Involvement in Rs 60 Crore Fraud Case, Calls Allegations Baseless

The Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty, has refused any involvement in a Rs 60 Crore fraud case that was registered by a businessman against her and her husband, Raj Kundra.

The complainant, Deepak Kothari, claimed that both Shilpa and Raj Kundra cheated him of Rs 60.4 crore. He claimed the couple’s company, Best Deal TV, raised funds from Kothari for business expansion but allegedly used the money for personal use instead.

In a statement, Shilpa Shetty expressed her sadness, saying that it was an attempt to link her name to the case. She clarified that her role in the company was only in a non-executive capacity, which means that she did not engage in the daily business operations or financial decisions or sign any documents. She added that, like every other public figure, she had endorsed products for the company, but the payments owed to her are still pending.

Her Husband, Raj Kundra, also denied the allegations. On social media, he called the accusations motivated and baseless and shared that they had already filed a quashing petition before the Bombay High Court. The couple said they had fully cooperated with the authorities, and they have trust in the law enforcement authorities and the Indian Judiciary.

Shilpa also disclosed that her family had lent around Rs 20 crore to the company, but that money has not been repaid. Shilpa called the allegations baseless and was upset to see her name being involved in the case, even though the matter had been delayed for almost nine years, making the accusations unsustainable. She called the allegations unwarranted and said they were harming her reputation and dignity as a woman.

Both Shilpa and Raj have requested media reporters to carefully check the facts of the case before publishing any news about the matter.
