Congress Leader Vivek Tankha Urges for a CA Protection Act in Rajya Sabha

The Indian National Congress (INC) leader and Rajya Sabha Member, Vivek Tankha, today spoke up for the chartered accountants in India and foreign countries. While speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he raised concerns and difficulties faced by CAs in their profession.

He emphasised how the CAs help the government to turn its policies into action. He called them the gatekeepers of our businesses and crisis managers.” However, even though they play an important role in the economy, the CAs are still being threatened with privacy and client confidentiality, he said.

Tankha demanded a new “CA Protection Act” to safeguard the CAs of our country. The privacy, client confidentiality, data and records of chartered accountants need to be protected by the government.

He also highlighted how the Big Four, including Deloitte, PWC, E&Y, and KPMG, take the majority of audits in India. These Big Four leave the Indian CA firms behind by taking the huge audit assignments. Vivek Tankha urged the need to promote the domestic CA firms to grow and reduce the influence of the Big Four.
