Jammu GST Department penalises Trader for Illegal Goods Transport
The enforcement team in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on April 25th, 2026, imposed a fine of Rs 6.29 lakh on a trader for violating GST rules. This information was given by a spokesperson of the Sales Tax Department.
During the investigation, it was found that the trader was trying to handle the movement of goods without the necessary documents. This is a direct violation of GST rules. For this reason, the department started action.
According to the spokesperson, based on specific information received from reliable sources, the trader was kept under surveillance for about 12 days. With the help of RFID tracking, the movement of goods was monitored and stopped at the right time. Due to this, the entire operation was successful.
This operation was supervised by State Tax Officer Sahida Akhtar. The entire action was taken under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, State Tax Enforcement, Jammu North (Headquarters, Udhampur), Anil Kumar Chandail.
Jammu and Kashmir State Tax Department Commissioner PK Bhat and Additional Commissioner Namrita Dogra appreciated the efforts of the team. He said that it is necessary to take similar cautious action in the future and that strict compliance with GST laws can be ensured.
