Centre Mandates Director General Approval for ESIC Orders Under Social Security Code, 2020

The Ministry of Labour and Employment recently issued a notification on May 8, 2026, regarding the authentication and signing of orders and decisions of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation under the Code on Social Security, 2020.

Using the powers given under sub-section (2) of section 9 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, the Central Government has decided that all orders and decisions made by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation must be officially approved and signed by the Director General or any other officer who is authorised.

These authorised officers may include the Insurance Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Regional Director Grade ‘A’/Director, Regional Director Grade ‘B’/Joint Director, and Deputy Director.
