TeamLease Challenges EPFO’s Rs 184 Crore Claim Before Karnataka High Court
TeamLease Services Limited approached the Karnataka High Court, filing a writ petition against a Show Cause Notice from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The company let the stock exchanges know about this on May 13, 2026, like it’s supposed to under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s listing rules.
This whole thing kicked off when TeamLease got the EPFO notice dated April 13, 2026, but only actually received it on April 23. EPFO said the company’s provident fund trust had messed up in a few ways, including losses on investments, losing money when selling bonds and debentures, misusing reserves, and missing recoverable amounts tied to employees. EPFO wanted proof for some of these.
All told, EPFO pegged the alleged financial damage at about Rs 184.58 crore, including interest. TeamLease disagreed and pointed out they had already explained everything to the Regional Provident Fund Organisation in Bangalore. According to the company, employers only have to cover the shortfall shown in the balance sheet and TeamLease said they did exactly that back on March 30, 2022.
To challenge the legality of the notice, TeamLease filed its writ petition to the Karnataka High Court on May 12, 2026. They made it clear they will stick to the rules and keep taking whatever legal action is needed as things play out.
