Big Win for Vindhya Telelinks Limited: GST Demand of Rs. 4,996 confirmed against Rs. 3.62 Cr
Vindhya Telelinks Limited, a part of the M.P. Birla Group and a prominent Indian manufacturer of telecommunication cables, recently disclosed the receipt of a GST demand notice along with interest and penalty.
The Additional Commissioner of GST, Appellate Authority, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, has partially allowed an appeal in a GST dispute for the financial year 2019-20.
The original order had raised a GST demand of Rs. 3,62,10,088. However, on consideration of the matter, the Appellate Authority reduced the demand drastically to Rs. 4,996 only.
The revised order confirms a GST liability of Rs 4,996 along with applicable interest and penalty. The interest amount has been calculated at Rs 5,410 up to 14th May 2026. In addition, a penalty of Rs. 20,000 has been imposed.
According to the order, the issue relates to excess availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC). The company had claimed ITC of Rs 4,996 in GSTR-3B, which was not reflected in GSTR-2A for the financial year 2019-20. This mismatch led to the demand proceedings.
