EPFO to Launch UPI-Based PF Withdrawal System
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is planning to launch a new UPI-based withdrawal system, which will help subscribers to directly transfer provident fund money into their own bank accounts.
Mansukh Mandaviya (labour minister) has said the testing of this facility has already been completed. In this new system, the EPFO members will be able to check the amount available for withdrawal and transfer the money using their linked UPI ID and PIN. The money will get transferred directly to the subscriber’s bank account. This makes the whole process much easier and faster.
In the present time, EPFO members must submit a withdrawal claim first, which takes time for approval. EPFO has introduced an auto-settlement system where the computer automatically verifies the member’s details within three days without any manual intervention.
The limit for auto-settlement has increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. The labour ministry said that this new UPI withdrawal system can benefit more than 7 crore EPFO members, and they have been working to resolve software issues before launching it.
EPFO is also planning to launch a new WhatsApp service for its members in a month. Subscribers will only send “Hello” to EPFO’s verified WhatsApp number, and then they will start receiving services and updates on WhatsApp.
They can check their PF balances, claim status, and recent transactions in their own local language.
EPFO has also solved old legal disputes. Total pending cases reduced from 31,036 to approx. 27,639 as of April 2026. Pending cases from the last 10 years have also been reduced by nearly 45 per cent.
