AAI Recruitment 2023: The Airports Authority of India, Southern Region, is seeking specialized skills for the air traffic management discipline and is inviting applications from retired Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCOs) from AAI. The selected candidate will be appointed as a consultant for a period of one year in the ATM discipline of AAI, SR, at various stations. As per AAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the authority requires consultants at five stations in the southern region, namely Coimbatore, Hubli, Hyderabad-Begumpet, Hyderabad-RGIA, and Chennai, for which 22 Consultants will be appointed. As per AAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligible candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the relevant field, be medically fit, and be capable of serving as a consultant until the age of 70 years.
The primary responsibility of the consultants will be to carry out operational/administrative functions associated with air traffic management and other ancillary activities. Administrative tasks include general policy matters, maintenance of leave records, and assistance in duty roster making. The consultant will be required to collect and collate data for record maintenance, prepare reports, monthly returns, etc. Besides, they will be responsible for handling ancillary activities such as breath analyzer, coordination for psychoactive substance tests, and administrative support for ATM training sections. As per AAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the remuneration for the consultants will be a consolidated fixed monthly honorarium of INR 75,000. As per AAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligibility criteria for engaging retired Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCOs) from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) as consultants are as follows:
Retired ATCOs: The candidates must be retired ATCOs from AAI, who have retired at the level of E-7/E-6 (Jt. General Manager/ Dy. General Manager).
Cooling period: A one-month cooling period will not be required for consultants who have superannuated from AAI. Consent for re-employment from retiring ATCOs can be taken beforehand prior to retirement.
Experience: The candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the relevant field.
Medical fitness: The retired officials must be medically fit and should be able to serve as a consultant up to the age of 70 years.
Vigilance and disciplinary angle: The eligible candidate should be clear from Vigilance/Disciplinary angle at the time of retirement, and this will be self-certified by the respective candidate (Annexure – I).
No criminal case pending: There should be no criminal case pending against the eligible candidate, and this will be self-certified by the respective candidate.
Selection based on interview and merit ranking: The eligible candidate should pass the interview and should be selected based on merit ranking.
Five-year cumulative period: Candidates who have completed a cumulative period of five years as a consultant in AAI shall not be considered for re-engagement of a consultant as per the existing policy.
These are the eligibility criteria for engaging retired ATCOs as consultants in AAI.
As per AAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the period of engagement for the consultant role is for a duration of one year, and the appointment of consultants is on a full-time contract basis. The consultant is not allowed to take up any other assignment during the period of consultancy.
Both AAI and the consultant can resign/terminate the services during the period of engagement by giving a one-month notice period or one-month remuneration in lieu of the notice period

As per AAI Recruitment 2023 official notification, the selection criteria for the appointment of retired ATCOs from AAI as Consultants are as follows:
Advertisement: The recruitment process will start with an advertisement on the AAI website.
Interview: The selection of candidates will be based on an interview conducted by the Regional Headquarters, Southern Region.
Merit Ranking: Candidates will be selected based on merit ranking in the interview.
Cancellation of Advertisement: AAI RHQ, SR reserves the right to cancel the advertisement and reject any or all offers without issuing any further notice or providing any reasons.
It is important to note that the decision of the management will be final, and no appeal shall be entertained.
