Auditor arrested for seeking Rs. 4 Lakh Bribe in Air Force CCTV Supply Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an auditor from the Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) office at the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in a corruption case.
According to a CBI statement on Friday, the arrest came after a proprietor of a private company filed a complaint. The complaint said that Ashokkumar Jadav, the accused, allegedly asked for a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh in exchange for issuing a supply order for CCTV cameras at an Indian Air Force base.
The bribe reportedly amounted to about 2% of the total project value, which was Rs. 2.5 crore for installing CCTVs at an Air Force base in Maharashtra under the South Western Air Command (SWAC) based in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The CBI set a trap on September 30 and caught Jadav while he was allegedly accepting Rs. 3.5 lakh.
After his arrest on September 30, Jadav was brought before a Special Judge in Pune, following a transit remand from a Special Judge in Ahmedabad. He was then sent to CBI custody until October 4.
