The State GST Department from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar in the morning carried out raids in over 22 premises, including addresses of several companies and residences of around 20 distinct firms from Jamnagar. These raids have significantly raised concerns among the business community.

Sources indicate a chartered accountant from Jamnagar is playing the key role in this case. Investigation has unearthed that these companies have evaded tax worth Rs. 80 crore. Officials have confiscated all appropriate documents; after analysis of these documents, it seems the evaded amount is likely to further increase.

Originally, it appears that the scam is being carried out using fake billing.
