Belrise Industries Faces Rs 1.51 Lakh GST Demand

Belrise Industries has received a GST demand order of Rs 1.51 lakh from the Assistant Commissioner (State Tax), Oragadam Assessment Circle, Tamil Nadu, for the financial year 2023-24. The order was passed on October 29, 2026, following audit and scrutiny proceedings under Section 73 of the GST Act, 2017.
The tax department raised concerns over the company's claim of Input Tax Credit (ITC) on certain expenses that are not eligible for credit under GST rules. It also questioned ITC claimed on purchases made from a supplier whose GST registration had been cancelled.
The department has confirmed a tax demand of Rs 18,626, along with interest of Rs 1,12,400 and a penalty of Rs 20,000. This takes the total demand to Rs 1,51,026.
The company stated that the order will have no material impact on its business operations or activities. Belrise Industries is currently evaluating its legal options, including filing an appeal against the order.
