The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has revised tariff values for certain key imported goods, including edible oils, metals, and areca nuts, effective from March 31, 2026.

CBDT Revises Tariff Values of Edible Oils, Metals, and Areca Nuts; Effective March 31, 2026 The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has issued a Notification No. 32/2026-Customs (N.T.), dated March 30, 2026, revising tariff values for certain imported goods. The tariff values for key commodities, including edible oils, metals, and areca nut, have been updated. Under palm oils, the tariff values for crude palm oil and refined palm oil (RBD) have been set at USD 1141 per metric tonne and USD 1162 per metric tonne, respectively. Similarly, Crude palmolein is valued at USD 1167 and refined palmolein at USD 1170. Crude soybean oil is fixed at USD 1224 per metric tonne. Brass scrap has been assigned a tariff value of USD 7117 per metric tonne.

For precious metals like gold and silver are set at USD 1450 per 10 grams and USD 2201 per kilogram, respectively. In the case of areca nuts, the tariff value remains unchanged at USD 7020 per metric tonne. The said revisions have been introduced by the Government of India to its earlier Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated August 03, 2001, in pursuance of its powers granted under sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962).
