The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Academy conducted a two-week training program on financial and cyber-enabled crimes for officers of the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), Mauritius. The program was launched on August 10, 2026 under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The training covered many areas of investigating financial and cybercrimes. Officers from the FCC, Mauritius were trained extensively on investigation techniques, challenges and ways to deal with crimes involving technology and financial fraud.

The programme concluded at the CBI Headquarters in New Delhi on August 21, 2026. CBI Director Praveen Sood presided over the concluding event. Sood had earlier served as the Police Advisor to the Government of Mauritius from 1999 to 2002.

Sood addressed the participating officers during the program and spoke about the rising threat of cybercrime in India and Mauritius. He also discussed the reasons behind the rise in cybercrime and the difficulties encountered by the investigating agencies in dealing with such cases.

The talks also focused on ways to reduce the impact of cybercrimes and beef up cooperation between the two countries. The participants discussed areas of common interest and challenges, with particular emphasis on making investigations involving multiple countries faster and more effective.

The CBI said such training programmes help strengthen cooperation between Indian and foreign law enforcement agencies and improve their ability to tackle financial and cybercrimes across borders.
