CBI Arrests J&K Fireman in Bribery Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Fireman posted under Assistant Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir in a bribery case.
The case was registered on October 6, 2026 after receipt of a complaint against the accused, the CBI said. The complainant alleged that the Fireman demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 for processing and issuance of Fire and Emergency Services No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his hotel in Katra.
During negotiations, the accused reportedly agreed to accept Rs 15,000 as a bribe. The CBI then laid a trap on October 6 and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the Rs 15,000 bribe from the complainant.
The investigation into the case is currently underway.
