Central Excise area-based exemption Scheme for North East and Hill States to end

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) released News Letter dated 20th June 2020.

A New Scheme was launched to reimburse taxes on the exemption from Excise Duty.

This Scheme is:

When the GST was implemented, a budgetary support scheme was launched to reimburse certain domestic taxes to former recipients of the area-based exemption from Central Excise duty in the North East and the Hill States. To that aim, I am pleased to report that the scheme’s target of Rs. 3903.92 crore for the fiscal year 2021-22 has been fully utilized. This is largely due to the tireless efforts of our officers in the Directorate General of Performance Management and zone officers. This is yet another Sankalp se Siddhi example!
