Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Faces Rs 42.54 Crore Income Tax Additions; Plans to Appeal Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Limited has landed in a serious income tax dispute. The company has received an assessment order, dated March 26, 2026, passed by the National Faceless Assessment Centre (NFAC), Income Tax Department, for the financial year 2023-2024.

The company has clarified that it believes that the order is not reasonable and hence will challenge the same by filing an e-appeal on April 22, 2026, through the National Faceless Appeal Centre, which operates under the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals). The main issue is that tax authorities slapped on several disallowances and additions, mainly under Sections 80IA and 80JJA. The total is about Rs 42.54 crore. Dalmia Bharat seems pretty sure they will get relief once the appeal process wraps up. So far, they haven’t highlighted any major financial hit, but to be honest, things are still uncertain. They promised to keep the stock exchanges in the loop if anything big changes.

This kind of tax battle is not rare in India. Plenty of companies go through it. Plus, with the newer faceless assessment and appeal systems, the whole process is starting to shift.
