Department of Posts to start providing NPS services through online mode

Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications (DoP) has been providing the National Pension Scheme (NPS-All Citizen Model Scheme), a voluntary Pension Scheme of Government of India managed by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority(PFRDA) through its designated Post Offices since 2010 through physical process system.

With effect from April 26, 2022, the Department of Posts will begin delivering NPS (All Citizen Model) over the internet.

Any Indian citizen between the ages of 18 and 70 can use this online service by going to the Department of Posts’ official website (www.indiapost.gov.in) and clicking on National Pension System -Online Services.”

Customers can take advantage of services such as new registration, initial/follow-up contributions, and SIP choices through NPS Online for a low fee. The Department’s NPS service charge is one of the lowest. Subscribers are also entitled for a tax deduction in NPS if the Ministry of Finance makes a declaration under Sec. 80CCD 1 from time to time (B).

All eligible folks for NPS may use this online feature to avoid physically visiting a post office and to enjoy a hassle-free experience at a low cost. The NPS Online facility will go a long way toward promoting the National Pension Scheme (All Citizen Model) and ensuring that people in the country have a secure and dignified existence in their later years.
