Education Minister Bhuse: Maharashtra Schools to Follow CBSE Pattern From Academic Year 2025-26 The State Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, has made the announcement that from academic year 2025-26, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum will be used in Maharashtra Government schools. Note the point, this change be implemented in two phases across the state. The CBSE curriculum will be used in class 1st, in the first stage. As Maharashtra will be using a new curriculum, hence Maharashtra school's teachers and education officers will be required to undergo a training period on the new curriculum. For the next years, the CBSE curriculum will be implemented in all the other classes. The State Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, has clarified, that subjects such as History, Geography, and the Marathi language will stay as it is in the Maharashtra syllabus while shifting to the CBSE curriculum. A letter was written to the State Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse by NCP (SP) working president and Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule sharing their concerns on adopting the new CBSE curriculum. In the letter, she said, "It is very painful that the state is adopting CBSE Board over SSC, she said while claiming the government's move was detrimental to the Marathi language and culture. She said parents should be given the option to choose between different boards that are available, including the state's SSC." She also raised a question, will the new CBSE curriculum represent Maharashtra's history and language equally as before? As per the decision, the CBSE text will be made available to the students of Maharashtra schools in Marathi language from April 1, 2025. Currently, examinations for classes 10th and 12th are administered by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) in schools of Maharashtra.
